Picket Fence
In the Ditmas park area of Bklyn Courtelyou rd has become the home of some new restaurants serving up some really great eat's. Picket fence(1310 courtelyou rd) is amongst the new places to eat, with a beer and wine list thats looking better every month. If your inclined to it, start with the smoked gouda mac&cheese for an appetizer paired with a Brooklyn lager beer, and you won't know what hit you. The picket fence burger(1/2 pound, pure first class beef, w/sweet potato fries, french fries, or a salad)is an awesome choice for lunch to go. It does not disappoint. And to help pick-up the slack have a glass of Pinot noir, Mont pellier(California 2007), the taste together is remarkable. If entrees are what you seek, grilled scallops(butter poached golden potatoes, leeks, creamed spinach and romescu sauce)? Pair it with the Brooklyn pilsner, well crafted with excellent flavor, or the Viognier, Mil piedras(Argentina 2008). Either one brings out the hidden flavors of the dishes while pushing the tastes to the brink. A few other entrees of worth are the herb crusted rack of lamb(green beans and polenta cake), the tuna steak(wasabi mashed potatoes and fave beans)and the butter milk fried chicken(smoked gouda mac and cheese and snow peas). Picket fence serves brunch along with lunch and dinner. And catering is available. In a great area like Ditmas park which is changing slowly but surely, I hope Picket fence stays put.
