INNA ROIZIN: Timeless fashion accessories

Often in life meeting one person can lead to a series of fortunate events that bring you into contact with amazing people, who do highly creative things. While I was at the Loft in the Red-Zone art show(through AHa Piponska), I met Inna Roizin, creative designer behind the accessory & art line that bares her name. When it comes to creative design in fashion, brilliant, and or beautiful ideas come out of two things. A personal need to create in response to supply and demand, or a practical improvement to suit the need(s) of the day. As in 1858 when Louis Vuitton created the gray Trianon canvas flat trunk, making it possible for easy stacking on voyages at sea or travel across land.

Inna Roizin is a "bespoke designer, taste-maker, and visionary with a unique sensibility for design and the environment". She was born in Latvia to a family of well-known furriers. Soon she discovered her own passion for creating with her hands, having watched her father create delectable hats and coats out of fur's. It was only a matter of time before she found her own mediums and calling. From what I've learned of her, Inna's inspiration comes from having lived in various cities(Brussels, N.Y.C, Miami, Israel), and the things she's seen in nature that sparks her creativity. She graduated collage with a B.S in computer science and worked as a software analyst for 12 years. During that period period she continually pursued creative outlets that allowed her to express her creativity, and work with her hands. She began delving more and more into her creativity when she lost her job due to 9/11. Sometime after "...she made her first evening bag out of beads.... compliments flowed all night and Inna sold her first bag to a store owner. Thus the Inna Roizin brand was born. Focusing on quality, craftsmanship, and creating special, unique pieces for her clients. This is the foundation of the Inna Roizin brand.

Semi-precious, antique and unique beads collected from all over the world, these are but some of her mediums. Add to this high quality fabrics, practical creative design, a love of nature and your in her world. Custom made evening bags, cuffs, belts, bustiers, one-of-a-kind art pieces and accessories made to order. Inna has also started creating housewares(baskets), masks and items for the head. The spirit of Inna's style is grounded in an old world sense of opulence, with a modern sensibility when it comes to materials and design. She's similar in daring and outlook to Paul Poiret or Jeanne Paquin. In her design of accessories one can see something of the creativity and style of Coco Chanel, who(according to Elieen Collard)took notice of women dressing less extravagantly, due to WW1, and created the new innovation of costume jewelry. She replaced expensive necklaces with glass or crystal beads. "Without grading them to size, she mixed pearls with other beads to fashion original jewelry to be worn with her designs". Inna Roizin's creations seem to belong to past(hand-crafted works of art)and the present(where the past is displayed anew via practical, stylish design). The Roizin line also uses recycled materials in some of their fabrics and at times stones that are compressed.
