Andzelika Jordanova: Multi-media art from Skopje. By K.K.W

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spiders web". (1)

When you look at Andzelika's artwork you see this is true, why else would she transform a spoon into a work of art? Hers is a mindset thats highly adaptable to almost any material or medium, seeing art not in borders,  without such.

The spoon is a strange, kooky piece that can be looked at on many levels- starting with "conceptual art". Its one of the many signs of high civilization and human advancement. And yet its so common-place, its meaning and significance is lost on us, until we are made to see it in a format such as Andzelika's. The charm of the piece is in the act of its creation, and the creator in question, a strong push in the direction of minimalism. What was the moment when she gave it life and made part of her own world, and presenting it to us? Its the sort of creation that Marcel Duchamp would like and relate to.

Andzelika also designs jewelry and accessories, which often features an industrial, abstract look. Hand crafted pieces that at times resemble the work of Alexander Calder, incorporating elements of non-representational art (mostly her earring designs). Many of the earring have a vivid look, not unlike the work of Clyfford Still and Robert Motherwell.   Her clever abstract-industrial designs evoke a sense of wearable art that triumphs over the notions of standard femininity in jewelry design.

Andzelika Jordanova is certainly one of Macedonia's most interesting multi-media artists, whose artwork brings a strong sense of creativity in the way of art&design. Her work has a great amount of feeling that draws in the viewer into her strange and fascinating world.
