Music Progressive Quartet: Straight out of Skopje!

From the heart of Skopje, four young conservatory trained, world class professional musician's come together to create, an intriguing blend of classical sound infused with traditional Macedonian music.

I had first heard their amazing sound at Gallery MC last year;it drifts you out of yourself, faraway to the river Vardar, as sun set's and into the Old Bazaar.

With haunting, passionate energy, the vocals in the beginning of "Mesecino Careva Devojko" cuts right into you. Exotic, sensual, its rhythmic sound tinged with beauty of their country.
"Koljo" brings you further along with somber, almost dark tones, that elegantly flows into a flowering burst of rapid, seemingly joyful notes.

"Katinke" exudes a slow paced and heartfelt, tender sound that's mesmerizing. It evokes an aching sadness, a romantic dim-lit mood of lovers kissing goodbye. The album as a whole is stunning in its complexities, syncopation, the pungent mix of traditional Macedonian, and contemporary classical aspects. This is one of my favorite CD's, which is why I'm glad they each signed it. Cheers!

MPQ is  Vladimir Lazarevski on oboe, Vladimir Krstev on violin, Marko Videnovic on viola and as composer and Paskal Krapovski on cello.
